Dr. King and the child "white"
Ever wish you can go back in time and do something new? You know, if I had to do it time, I … "Type of thing? I'm sure we've all had that thought at one time or another. Or we make a mistake again," "right" or revive a memory and do some things different to make it even more memorable, or rewind and a part of history, something that has changed the lives of millions.
For me, if I had to do it again, I would go back and part of the civil rights movement of the 60s. I was a boy then and could not really understand the magnitude of what was happening. I would have done. To return to play only a small part of the movement to settle my mind considerably. To do something, anything, to contribute somehow. Maybe sit on the Freedom Rider bus. Or help to achieve one of the four small coffins girls who died in the bombing of a Baptist church in 1964,. Or sit next to one of Little Rock 9 to school and be a comfort to him. Or maybe at a hearing in Washington to hear the "I have a Dream" Speech Martin Luther King. Or close enough to help keep the arms of the father of Martin Luther King to prevent falling when he was overcome by grief at funerals son. Something, anything. It was a moment in time. One of which could never be repeated. You never see the likes of again. One of whom died with Dr. King. This time, this special period of time. This great cause which has given hope to many. Oh, how the child "White" Dear who had been there when it really care.
I guess you never realize the impact of current events in people until events become history. For young people today, is something to think about. Maybe just maybe, you can never say "if I had to do it again ….." Perhaps his time is now.
