Photo not so obvious Gear
Well, most of you already know the typical equipment that the photographer can have with him or her when the field: a case or two, several lenses, filters, memory cards, a light meter, a gray card, a reflector, a flash, a camera bag of any kind, and so on and so forth. But what about less obvious the train?
In the field, you may experience a variety of conditions. At the end of the day its goal is to capture the scenes you would expect, and do so productively, safely and with minimal noise. Here is a list I made of some of the elements less obvious that can help achieve this result. Note that this list is not exhaustive!
Panic – No, this is not a joke. There were many occasions where I had wanted one. Sure it may sound at 120 dB or more, and is easy to activate, while being easy to disassemble.
Emergency beacon GPS – In For me, this is a priority when shooting in remote locations, regardless of whether you are in a group or not. Otherwise, try to get satellite phone, but can be difficult to acquire and probably cost more.
First Aid Kit – It is better to choose the one that specifically addresses the elements or camping.
Hiking boots – Try to choose shoes that are comfortable and very flexible. There is also a good idea to ensure that only offers great traction. Some boots are waterproof rated, which may be a useful tool. Try to choose footwear that go beyond the ankles. Ultimately, the choice is a compromise between safety and comfort.
LED Torch – Ideal for control of all camera settings (or other devices that can be activated) when taken at dusk, dawn or at night. Necessary to find the right place for properly and to avoid risks. What is your tripod actually based on?
Waterproof jacket or fast drying – Any way you go, you can use something with lots of pockets, and something that is comfortable and flexible, and closures Style Velcro instead of buttons. On one occasion used the leather jacket in the steep terrain, and I really inhibited the movement.
More than a few socks and shoes – A fall in the water and cursed him for a good time. Not the best you can get the creative juices.
Small Padded – As a photographer, gonna do a lot of knees. Save your knees and learn! Otherwise, use skater knee.
Sunscreen – In these days, you should not leave home without him. You can now buy sunscreens with minerals, without these harmful chemicals. Consult your pharmacist.
Repellent – Another time, without Hazardous chemicals need here. Ask your pharmacy to natural alternatives.
Plastic garbage bags – which can be large to protect equipment or can even be used as a makeshift raincoat.
Panadol or equivalent – Do not spoil the evil head on that day.
Energy bars – You might be surprised how much energy you burn during a typical shoot. Keep your energy level and stay, eh … specific.
Water – Other important area to examine, from a standpoint of safety and productivity. Try to drink regularly throughout the country!
Heavy-Duty Notebook – If you're like I, and if you want to work on the computer on the ground (or tent), which can be really useful. I used laptops to take over the plant, me, but do not tend to last (probably says a lot about me, perhaps), and it can not take hits too. Panasonic Toughbook is really nice and provide some level of water resistance. Look around, there may be alternatives, but not so rich in features. A possible compromise would be to have an external drive truck with you, then at least your data is protected.
So there you have it, a list of some not so typical things that can make life easier. If you can not think of anything else, email us online and we will add to the list.
Good luck!
