What size down comforter should I buy?

I have a queen size bed but I like the comforter to drape down over the sides. Would a king be too large?

I have a queen size bed that is actually a water bed base with a regular mattress instead. I have a king sized down comforter and Love it. It is long enough to drape the sides and we never fight over the comforter anymore on cold nights.
