If you have a sewing machine or a friend with a machine sewing should be possible to adjust the size of the quilt. Or you may be able to "edge" of the quilt at home with cotton batting or fiberfill to fill the vacuum around the quilt. My recommendation would be to the top of a fabric store like Jo-Ann Fabric, where staff may be able to help you find materials that can help.
