Bedroom redecorating problem!!!!?

I’ve been wanting to redo my room for a long time now but I’m confused on what colors to choose.

The color scheme now is wacky and I’m not allowed to get rid of any furniture or paint over them as they’re my grandmother’s bed set.

The dressers are all a cherry oak color and my bed is black brass. The carpet is almost a navy blue.

I’m really leaning towards orange comforter and black sheets but I’m not sure if this would make the room look gaudy.

My question is what colors do I paint the walls if I want the comforter and I have to keep the carpet?

If you don’t like the color of the carpet, could you get a large area rug so the color of the carpet will be less noticeable? Got with a rug that will match color wise with the carpet (cream or light tan or white would be the best) and then the carpet color will only be visible around the edge of the room. And then it will be covered up by any furniture you have near the walls. That way the navy becomes an accent color instead of a major color. With that said I would go with an orange comforter and patterned sheets like these:

and patterned sheets like these:

Then have fun with all the different accessories to bring it all together
