Many people decorate their bedrooms to look a certain way with no regard for comfort. For example, when shopping for bedroom furniture, we often look for the most attractive piece of furniture we see. Often, we decorate our homes to appear magazine ready and they lack the comfort of “home”.

You would then determine what type of mattress. If you would like the bed to hug you, you may want to opt for a water bed or foam mattress. Perhaps you would like a soft cozy bed, if so you might consider a firm mattress.

2. Closet Space

A closet is very important in a bedroom because it is the main storage unit. Depending on the size of your room, you closet could hold clothes, shoes, furniture and more. A spacious organized closet is pleasing to any bedroom because it will free your room of clutter.

3. Bedside Table or Nightstand

There are several uses for a table in your bedroom. You may need a vanity table, a table to hold you glasses or even a glass of water in the middle of the night. Consider the function that your table will serve and you can then select the perfect table for your space.

4. Accent Rug

A rug serves one of two purposes in a room if not both. A big fluffy rug can feel amazing on tired feet at the end of a day. A rug can also bring out the style and flair of the décor in your room. Consider the colors and space in your room carefully before you select your accent rug.

5. Dressing Space and Mirror

Your bedroom will be used mainly for rest and dressing. It is not comfortable to dress and prepare for your day if there is not adequate space. When selecting furniture for your bedroom, be sure to consider the space and placement to allow for dressing. You would also want to include a mirror, preferable full length, to aide in dressing.

6. Trash Can

There is nothing more irritating than having to leave the room to throw something away. It is also an eye sore to have trash stuffed in little piles or plastic bags and hung on doors. A small trash can that blends with the décor of your bedroom is a must have for convenience.
