What kind of bedding should be used with a platform bed?

I just purchased platform beds for all rooms of my house and I am what kind of insurance that the beds to buy. I do not want to quilt, quilt, which hangs above the platform bed, as the platform extends beyond the mattress and is really what I love most in the new beds. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Only cosmetic surgery in the spread around the periphery. To look good and buy a spread as a thin padded. A quilt or a quilt would be a bit too bulky.
